LakeSmart Matching Grant Program

The Belgrade Lakes Association would like to assist you in becoming LakeSmart, so we’re offering a “MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM.” See details below..

Availability

Ten (10) MATCHING grants with a maximum of $200 each will be available to Great and Long Pond property owners.

Elgibility

  1. The applicant must be a current member of the Belgrade Lakes Association.
  2. The applicant must have had a LakeSmart Evaluation and must be willing to implement improvements which have been recommended during the LakeSmart evaluation process.
  3. The applicant must submit a brief outline of the work to be done (see guidelines outlined below).
  4. The applicant must submit paid receipts for materials and labor.
  5. The applicant must allow the Belgrade Lakes Association to take “before” pictures of the property and once the work has been completed, “after” pictures of the improvements.

 Application Process

  1. Obtain a copy of the Buffer Handbook and the Lake-A-Syst Manual from the Belgrade Lake Association contact person listed below or “click-on” the Buffer Handbook & Lake-A-Syst links provided on the BLA website under the BLA LakeSmart homepage.
  2. Submit a brief description of the project as well as a SIMPLE diagram of the proposed improvements to the property. (See the Buffer Handbook for assistance.)
  3. If a buffer design is included in the project, a minimum of 60% native plants are required.
  4. Provide a list of the projected expenses and include material and labor costs separately.

Selection Process

  1. All applications will be reviewed by the Belgrade Lakes Association Water Quality Committee
  2. Preference in awarding grants will be given to those projects that:
    • Clearly promote WATER QUALITY improvement in Great and Long Ponds.
    • Use 100% native plants in their design. (Please see either the Lake-A-Syst or the Buffer Handbook for native plant examples.)

Application Deadline: September 1, 2007

Grant Distribution Process

  1. Once the application “deadline” date has passed, Belgrade Lakes Water Quality Committee will review all applications and award decisions will be based on the “selection criteria” outlined above.
  2. Applicants will be notified of grant awards no later than September 30th, 2007.
  3. Once the applicant has provided the paid receipts for the project and pictures have been taken, the Belgrade Lakes Association will award the grant
